RR
RR serves excellent Andhra and Hyderabadi food. It's a very old and very famous "Institution" in Bangalore which shut down sometime ago and and then started again.
It occupies a whole three story building on Church Street just off Brigade Road. The first floor serves Andhra food, the second floor Hyderabadi food and the 3rd is a party hall. They have valet parking.
Raunak Kundu who got us here felt the first floor looked shabby so he took us to the second although we had planned to eat Andhra food. The second floor had much better seating and decor. Both floors are large and the tables are placed at good distances from each other.
We ordered a Non Veg platter which turned out to be just average. The prawns and Reshmi Kabab were quite nice. The Seekh Kababs were not too good. Other kababs were just ok.
This was washed down by some Old Monk which is reasonable here (by Bangalore restaurant standards) at 100 a peg. They only serve Pepsi though which most people hate as a mixer with Old Monk or Rum in general because of it's sweetness.
For the main course we had a Chicken Biryani and a Mutton Biryani alongwith a Dum Murgh. Raunak noted that the Biryanis were in Hyderabadi style and not Andhra. Nevertheless they were quite good. The Dum Murgh was very spicy (loads of green chillis but was excellent if you have a preference for spicy food.
