Summary: Bar with fresh seafood
Description:

My search is over. I have finally found it.

A (Bombay Style) Bar with fresh Mangalorean Seafood!

Old Monk with Surmai Fry, Kane and Prawns. Life can't get better than that.

The fish dishes, Surmai & Kane, etc are reasonably priced at around Rs. 60 each. The prawns are a bit costly at Rs. 120.

The fish was very fresh while the prawns seemed old. The Kane Rawa Fry was superb!

An Old Monk peg is Rs. 26. Costly by Bangalore Bar standards but cheap by Bombay standards. They don't serve quarters but at 26 a peg I'm not missing quarters.

The famous Shetty efficiency and service with a smile which makes tiny quarter bars in Bombay endearing is here in abundance.

If they manage to maintain the seafood freshness and quality, this place could become a personal favourite.

They also have a branch in Sanjaynagar.

Summary: Paratha Joint that's great for a quick satisfying meal
Description:

This place is almost a hole in the wall sort of place on Sanjaynagar main road close to the Airforce compound (150 m or so). Most of the patrons are students from around the area.

What's so good about it are the Parathas! I mean really good! They've expanded their menu to include some of their own creations now. Most of the Parathas are very good and have a very home cooked feel. All served with Pudina and Sweet chutney. Curds is extra.

Also available are very good gulab jamuns, rosogollas, samosas and kachoris. Sandwiches are a recent addition but aren't as good as their speciality.

Cost: most of the parathas are around Rs. 25-30. A quick meal is two parathas, curds and maybe some other snacks. Quite a filling meal, believe me.

Summary: Simple place serving non veg and parothas near Mekhri Circle
Description:

Excellent cheap joint for near Mekhri Circle. I had Ceylone Parotha which I read as cyclone paratha. Ceylone Parotha is a thin large Parotha. They also have other types like Kerala Parotha.

Ceylone Parotha + butter chicken == good stuff. And damn cheap too. Just 132 bucks for butter chicken, 3 ceylone parathas, 4 or 5 kerala parathas, one chicken manchurian, two fried eggs sunny side up.

Summary: Multi-cuisine joint, great sea-food, excellent and affordable lunch buffet
Description:

This place is run by ex-armed-forces people, and serves up a great lunchtime buffet all days of the week at roughly Rs.100+taxes per head.

Sort of Goan atmosphere, good seafood available a la carte, but serves Mughlai, Chinese, Indian and Continental as well.

During daytime, great place to go to with lots of people, kind of like a picnic. Evenings, the place tends to be quite full because of people dropping in to avail of the affordable booze - they have some really weird concotions there (kamikaze or brain haemmorage, anyone?)

Great favourite of students in the area.

Try the crab dishes, as well as the kabab platter. Food tends to have a coastal approach to preparation.

Beware of softdrinks - for some reason a Coke is about 27 bucks there - for a little more, you can have some hard booze instead.
