Summary: Decent Andhra Food
Description:

One of the very good Andhra food restaurants in town. I personally find it a very rewarding experience to have meal here. Haven't tried anything much, though we ordered fish once and it tasted pretty average. For about 50Rs you get plate meals (i.e limited rice/curries etc) which infact is quite a lot for a single person. Curries are tasty and spicy, though they serve north indian food, I wouldn't recommend it.

Summary: Good andhra food
Description:

Ask anyone about Andhra food in Bangalore and this is one of two places where they'll guide you.

We had Chicken Masala with Rumali Rotis. The Chicken Masala not very spicy as we had expected but had this very fragrant taste. My sister said it's the cinnamon. The Rumali Rotis were huge, around twice the size of other places.

The paneer sholay starter wasn't very good. Very dry and too much garam masala.

The Chicken Biryani was excellent. Well the rice was but the chicken could have been softer.

That's it for a first report. Any suggestions on what to try out here?

Summary: Good Andhra restaurant and bar
Description:

The food is great, the alcohol is affordable and the service is excellent. What more does one want from a "Bar and Restaurant"?

The lighting is a bit dim for my tastes (i prefer well lit bars) but then one can't have everything.

Since I wasn't very hungry, I had a few bites of Sholay Chicken (good stuff), Onion Pakodas (also good) and Biryani (EXCELLENT!).

They make this awesome green chutney which people take away as parcel (it's that good).

Summary: andhra food
Description:

Looked like quite a popular place with lots of people waiting for a table on a Sunday afternoon despite there being two large floors of seating (maybe a 200+ seater).

Service was a bit slow but efficient. They tend to bring out all the food at once so if you want them to bring dishes as they are ready, inform while ordering.

They call themselves Multicuisine but you're probably better off ordering Andhra meals or Biryani. That's what they're recommended for.

I had a "Jani Chicken" which as the description said came with a red spicy gravy in which the chilli overpowered everything else. Since I was in a "Let's kill my tastebuds senseless" mood it was quite good. Had with Rumali rotis which were HUGE.

Mutton Biryani (andhra style) followed which was good, a bit soggy though. I found it a bit bland but maybe that was because the chicken had eliminated any chance of discovering subtle flavours in Biryanis.

(Also note this is Andhra Biryani where you're expected to have the gravy the give on the side with the Biryani).

The seasonal fresh mango icecream was nice but the chocolate icecream is avoidable.

Summary: A VFM "family" bar & restaurant
Description:

A VFM bar & restaurant serving Indian / Chinese / Tandoori.. This is my first visit so will keep it to my first impressions....they serve liquor by quarter.. .so it is paisa vasool. The ambience is decent. The food quality is good again considering the prices. The have 4 different seating areas and they give an impression that you have walked into 4 different eating joints. The reason is 1 is just for family so the crowd is decent...2nd one has all the corporaty crowd (from all the offices nearby) and other 2 have the locals that bordered on being rowdy. Maybe that was a one off experience for me.

Go there is you are around the area and want a quick drink and eat some decent stuff at very affordable prices.

cheers

RR

Summary: Andhra and Hyderabadi food
Description:

RR serves excellent Andhra and Hyderabadi food. It's a very old and very famous "Institution" in Bangalore which shut down sometime ago and and then started again.

It occupies a whole three story building on Church Street just off Brigade Road. The first floor serves Andhra food, the second floor Hyderabadi food and the 3rd is a party hall. They have valet parking.

Raunak Kundu who got us here felt the first floor looked shabby so he took us to the second although we had planned to eat Andhra food. The second floor had much better seating and decor. Both floors are large and the tables are placed at good distances from each other.

We ordered a Non Veg platter which turned out to be just average. The prawns and Reshmi Kabab were quite nice. The Seekh Kababs were not too good. Other kababs were just ok.

This was washed down by some Old Monk which is reasonable here (by Bangalore restaurant standards) at 100 a peg. They only serve Pepsi though which most people hate as a mixer with Old Monk or Rum in general because of it's sweetness.

For the main course we had a Chicken Biryani and a Mutton Biryani alongwith a Dum Murgh. Raunak noted that the Biryanis were in Hyderabadi style and not Andhra. Nevertheless they were quite good. The Dum Murgh was very spicy (loads of green chillis but was excellent if you have a preference for spicy food.

Summary: Good Andhra lunch buffet
Description: Every Friday one of us from my old team treats everybody to lunch at a decent place. This Friday outing thing was kinda invented by Ruta. It's fun: Fridayss tend to be relaxed, and moreover we don't have to put up with food at work. :-) So the last Friday was Ruta's turn. We ventured out to Nakshatra, an Andhra restaurant. It's quite close to MG road (less than 2 kms for sure). I'd never seen that part of town, heh. The place is pretty decent: neat decor; they could do with a bit more lighting, though. They have unlimited Andhra thali during lunch hours. 149 bucks. They had some mutton curry (which was fantastic), chicken achari, brinjal fry (I can't hate brinjal enough, but this was good), dal, the regular veg. salad, and biryani. They also have rotis and dosas; that you have to ask for, though: fresh, etc. For desserts we had vanilla ice creams with Gajar ka halwa (sweet thingie made from carrots). Awesome. Oh yeah, they have a bar attached too! :-) We were awefully stuffed by the end.
