Silk Route
Submitted by chetanv on Tue, 20/03/2007 - 17:01. Pune | Koregaon Park | Elite Restaurant | Lounge | Chinese | Japanese | Oriental | ThaiKoregaon Park is known for its sprinkling of speciality restaurants. This one is not to be missed.
The interiors are very cozy and intimate. The service is excellent. They have a sort of lounge on the upper storey - but I have never eaten there.
The food is simply superb! I have tried Chinese and Thai here - and have never been disappointed. I find the experience and food quality better than Mainland China.
The place is a bit expensive - so go there on some occasion...
Fujiya
Submitted by cnb on Mon, 09/10/2006 - 04:28. Delhi | Chanakya Puri | Bar | Restaurant | Chinese | JapaneseFujiya is a Chinese / Japanese restaurant on Malcha Marg, Chanakya Puri, Delhi.
It has some 5 or 6 token Japanese Dishes, 2 of which are Tofu. I guess that's how they qualify themselves as a Japanese place. :)
Since I wasn't too hungry and didn't feel like experimenting much I had Veg Fried Wontons, Lamb Chilli and a Kingfisher. The lamb was quite good but the beer was flat and the wontons were too oily.
Since they pretend to be a posh place they messed up by trying to get me seated at the end of a large table along with a family of four. The head of the family threw a fit and demanded that they get a separate table. I was on the phone and mostly oblivious to what was going on around me.
Finally I got seated at a 3 person table and funnily enough very close to a four person table where the earlier mentioned family later came and sat.
Average Chinese place. Wouldn't really recommend it or go there myself unless I have to eat for survival or something
Lotus Garden
Submitted by cnb on Mon, 09/10/2006 - 04:20. Delhi | Chanakya Puri | Bar | Restaurant | Chinese | JapaneseLotus Garden is another of the Delhi Chinese restaurants pretending to be Japanese as well. At least this one had more Jap dishes and only one Tofu dish.
It is on Malcha Marg next to Fujiya or Moti Mahal Deluxe Bar and Restaurant.
The only good thing about this place. It has Happy Hours, 30% off on alcohol before 8 and you can pre-order for the night in advance.
Amateurish but decent service. The well dressed waiter tried to speak English for a while then just gave up realizing I was making him repeat everything he said. Well I really didn't understand what he meant by "We are naat having keerawood". :)
Average eat only for survival in Chanakya Puri area kind of place.
Origami
Submitted by cnb on Tue, 26/09/2006 - 06:15. Mumbai | Worli | Bar | Elite Restaurant | Japanese | Rich and FamousThis was my first time having Japanese food so I was looking forward to this.

We started with Sake and an assorted Seafood platter

After a couple more platters we had the famous eel dish. Unagi Sushi - (Grilled eel sushi) Throughout the meal we had Sumanth enlightening us about Japanese food

Lalit meanwhile unimpressed by the sushi was perplexed about when we are actually going to get any "real" food. He was finally overjoyed when for the main course Vikram ordered some Beef Steak. Infact so overjoyed he ordered one for himself:)

Sumanth had Zaru Soba Noodles with Shitake and Nori with an accompaniment of Seaweed. That seaweed rocks. If I'm in Atria I could drop in at Origami just for having seaweed :)

Merril, Madhuri and I had Rice with assored seafood while Nandita had Veg Rice. The rice was sweetish. I never thought I would like sweet rice but now I do :)
We finished off with some Icecream at Gelato. Nandita's suggested me to have a Whiskey Flavoured Icecream which was awesome! This being my first tryst with Japanese food it was a nice learning experience and thanks to Sumanth for the introduction. I liked some of the things on the seafood platter (but have no idea which). Especially the ones which left a sweet lingering after taste. The seaweed was super, the eel was nice, the rice was oddly delicious :)
The only con was the cost. This was by far the costliest Sigfood Mixer ever at 1750 a head while the ones we have had till now have been in the 300 to 500 area.
Oh. I forgot to mention the Sake. We had dry sake which went great with the sweet seafood! It's probably this sweet-dry combination which caused the super sensation in the mouth while eating the sushi.
I'm looking forward to experimenting more with Japanese food!

Mumbai | Kala Ghoda | Bar | Elite Restaurant | Great Bar | Restaurant | Chinese | Continental | Japanese | Oriental | Rich and FamousDefinitely an elite eating place if you want to experiment exotic stuff. They have sushi, eel, Norwegian salmon, Chilean bass, etc. You get the idea. Largely seafood but very good menu on the whole.
Avoid their super-expensive miniscule-quantity sake unless you are a wine freak or someone else is paying.
