Sigree - Lip Smacking North Indian Food
Submitted by atulnene on Wed, 06/02/2008 - 16:16. Pune | Dhole Patil Road | Restaurant | Indian | Mughlai | Oriental | Punjabi | Desserts | Must Visit | Part of a chainVery nice place to visit. Also has valet parking, you will generally need it on weekends when long queues are inevitable too.
All the veggies are nice. I was also recommended non-veg dishes by friends. The Dal Sigree is awesome. Combine that with one of the biryanees and you are setup for a sumptious dinner. There is a particular starter made of Bhindee (Lady's Fingers) that is so good that it makes you wonder whether you are really eating Bhindee ! Good desserts too.
On weekdays, there is the sit-down buffet available for lunch, for about Rs. 300.
Overall, its a bit pricey but worth it. Don't go there if you are looking for a 'light meal'. Enjoy !
Pride at Malad
Submitted by Anaggh on Wed, 26/09/2007 - 13:24. Mumbai | Malad | Restaurant | Chinese | Indian | Italian | Mughlai | Punjabi | Must VisitThe New & Hip venture of the one at Irla, also has a couple of banquet halls & hotel.
Well spaced out tables, similar menu, lots of parking outside (one of the reasons of giving irla a miss)constantly improving service & willingness to help you with off the menu trials.
The vegetarian edges out the non vegetarian by a wee bit; probably because of some new dishes, whereas the non veg does not seem different.
Afternoons are quiet & evenings till 9 are ok before it starts getting crowded.

Plays retro music, has a Dj who is more than happy to play requests. Has 1 LCD TV. Open from 7.30 pm to 1.30 am. Do not know about the mornings since never visited it that early. Has a happy hour till 9 pm. One free on every two AND YES allows you to stack the drinks at 9.

Submitted by Anaggh on Wed, 26/09/2007 - 12:38. Mumbai | Andheri | Restaurant | Indian | Mughlai | Punjabi | Must VisitA family restaurant, that has been in existence since the time lokhandwala complex came up. Been a visitor since 1993. Earlier they served chinese & mish mash. After their renovation some years ago, it is only punjabi, indian & a couple of moughlai dishes. Reasonably large, with enough space between tables & open till 1 am in the night. Home delivery is prompt & efficient. Afternoon Buffet is OK, but can be avoided.
The vegetarian spread is pretty nice, with some good off the menu dishes being offered. The chef ensures that he listens to the requirements & different dishes HAVE different gravies & taste.
The rotis are made out of wheat & not maida. The stuff kulcha, have real mixed stuffing & not only aloo.
Deserts are standard Kulfi, gulab jamun but combining them is a good bet.

Mumbai | Vile Parle | Restaurant | Indian | Mughlai | Punjabi | Affordable | Must Visit | Part of a chainAnother restaurant from the BJN Group..Lives up to the mark. Setting, interior decor is awesome, on the lines of Aromas of China and service pretty attentive.
Situated at Vile Parle west right above McDonands on the 1st and 2nd floor.
Have been there around thrice between the last couple of months and am glad to say that 3 out of 4 times the experience was great..
Only the afternoon buffet was not impressive on a saturday - the starters were cold and the food average & quite greasy...Also, I had taken some business associates for the lunch buffet - but the restaurant was filled with the kitty party crowd in the afternoon - too noisy and crowded...
Othewise the a-la-carte menu is awesome - not too many varieties in starters for non-veg. but great food..
One of the mutton items Lawrence road ke tikke or something like that awesome! So was the the chilly roti - (mildly spicy)...
The chicken tikkas & kebabs were good too (a trifle too oily though).
The biryani is great and the desserts quite good too..
Pricing - not too steep - and portions are generous -- They serve alcohol too. A meal for 8 of us with 1 drink each set us back by around Rs. 4500/-
All in all a great experience. Be fore-warned, they do not take reservations and people literally are queueing outside the door for a table..
Strategically, as there are no great restaurants in Vile Parle West and we have a richie -rich Gujrati community there - the most difficult part is getting a table there!
Cheers,

Essex Farms
Submitted by nehajhingon on Wed, 09/05/2007 - 17:24. Delhi | Restaurant | Continental | Mughlai | AffordableIn all my years in Delhi, I never knew that essex farms had a great restaurant and banquet hall. Built on a nice and airy plot near Mother's international school, this place is an ideal for a nice quiet evening with family.
The prices were quite reasonable and the menu though limited, has a lot of dishes unheard of... Tamatar Musallam and Corn Jalfrezi were things I had NEVER seen in a Mughlai restaurant.
The ambiance was very nice and you could have a private cabin, the usual noisy do or an evening under the stars. That was a choice you had! We picked the private cabin which was quite cozy for 8 people and since it was a round table, it seemed as if we were having a nice family dinner with exotic food... Quite Cool!
The only thing that irked me a bit was that they charged 55 bucks for one bottle of water...
A good experience altogether!

Kolhapur | Bar | Coffee Shop | Disc | Pub | Restaurant | Kolhapuri | Chinese | Continental | Indian | Maharashtrian | Mughlai | PunjabiOne of the better hotels in Kolhapur but now seems to be going down in service levels and mostly living off the name it's created.
It has a couple of restaurants, a Pub/Bar, a Coffee Shop + Swimming Pool area and a discotheque.
Stayed there for 2 days but only had the breakfast buffet at the Coffee Shop which was just ok, decent food to start off your day but nothing to write home about.
Room service was quick and efficient but the air conditioning was poor. Everything else was at acceptable levels.
Well with the room rates around those of a budget hotel in Bombay, it's a pretty decent deal but most people I spoke to suggested Hotel Pearl as the better and cheaper alternative.
Dal Fryday
Submitted by anandkr on Fri, 09/03/2007 - 16:40. Bangalore | Restaurant | Mughlai | Punjabi | AffordableGood clean ambience... simplistic yet nicely done. Coming to the food... 80% of the menu is standard Punjabi / North Indian fare that you get in every street corner restaurants these. What differentiates them is the taste... trying to get closer to be as authentic as possible.. so it makes the eating experience that much more enjoyable. What did we have
- Rajoli Kabab : Interesting...Tandoor cooked chicken breasts stuffed with mutton kheema & topped with egg. Very soft and tender.. perfectly cooked not overdone and spiced perfect. Fantastic with a squeeze of lemon on top of it with mint chutney on the side.
- Tandoori Pomfret : Amazing. I will stop at that
We had combo meals
- Kichdi & Kadi
- Makki roti / Saag / Dal Makhni
- Aloo Parantha / Egg bhurji
All nicely done.. and tasty. Ah!! forgot about the drinks... no alcohol and very limited options on the non - alcoholic. Had Jal Jeera and Aamlana (Sweet tamarind water spiced with black pepper, cumins, black salt etc)...very nice and refreshing.
All in all a nice and enjoyable gastronomic experience. Only crib is their service.... very slow and amateurish. Need to tighten up on that front.
