Mainland China, Hyderabad

Summary: The Best Restuarant in Hyderabad/Secunderabad
Description: Taking it from the top, parking is not a problem. They have an efficient valet parking system. The entrance to the restaurant is funny. The lift takes you one flight up to the place. As of now, Mainland China occupies the whole of the first floor of the building. Business has been good, and they've expanded. The food, I observe, has gotten better. Btw, Price Range: Pricey. 1500-1000 for four. The head waiter personally takes you to the table. I like the seats here. There are regular tables for 4,6, 8 and 10 people, but a few of the 8 seaters are unique. I can't describe them, they're classy. This is the place to come to, for a quiet, unruffled meal. The place usually has many customers but never more than the tables they have. Ok, here comes the menu. First impression: Imeprial. That lasted. They have a wide selection in everything chinese. Soup's, Starter's, Fooyung's etcetera. Rather than describing the food we consumed, I'll show you some pictures. Here you are: Soup: Clear Lemon and Seagrass Soup - Clear Lemon and Seagrass soup with chicken. It was steaming hot, tangy, not particularly spicy and not at all sweet. Excellent to help get rid of that cold. Starters: Spicy Hunan Prawn - I love Shrimp. And this surpassed all expectations. As far as I can tell, it's stir-fried in a sauce(of the customer's choice - they offer garlic, spicy and 2 others), with onion, garlic and vegetables. Simply superb. Deep Fried Squid - So, you've never tried squid. You were told that it would be chewy and tasteless and a complete waste of your resources. Wrong. Squid, as a precaution must always be eaten after deep-frying, so I've been told. This was great. The sauce which came with it was good too. The squid, I suspect was simply washed, cut-up, coated with batter lightly and fried in oil. It was divine. Maincourse: Fried Rice, served in a Bamboo Hollow - You get fried rice everywhere, right? Well, yes. But not like this stuff, you don't. This was easily the best fried rice I've ever tasted. I also asked for Spicy Crab Claws, but to my dissapointment, the head waiter came to us 20 minutes after the first course was served with news that the crab claws were cooked, but were not 'upto the standard required to be served here'. I suspect that the chef forgot to cook them, or something. Heck, I'm happy with the food and I can say that this has to be the best place to eat Chinese food in. Did I mention that these guys have a decent bar here? I've tasted the red house wine and a martini here. Nice is all I can say. Cheers.
