Sigree - Lip Smacking North Indian Food

| | | | | | | | |
Summary: Good ambience and Great food, advance registration will help jump queues
Description:

Very nice place to visit. Also has valet parking, you will generally need it on weekends when long queues are inevitable too.

All the veggies are nice. I was also recommended non-veg dishes by friends. The Dal Sigree is awesome. Combine that with one of the biryanees and you are setup for a sumptious dinner. There is a particular starter made of Bhindee (Lady's Fingers) that is so good that it makes you wonder whether you are really eating Bhindee ! Good desserts too.

On weekdays, there is the sit-down buffet available for lunch, for about Rs. 300.

Overall, its a bit pricey but worth it. Don't go there if you are looking for a 'light meal'. Enjoy !

Thin Crust Pizza-s

| | | |
Summary: My Pizza trips in Mumbai
Description:

As a pizza lover, I have eaten pizza at almost every place in Mumbai.. (psst.. I dont rate the stuff dished out in the countless UDIPI-s in the name of 'pizza', cheese 'pijja'.. stay clear of them)

Till recently, the tragedy of eating pizzas at places like smokin joes, dominos and the other chains was that their pizzas were invariably 2 cm.s plus thick bread-y base (aaargh !).. rendering pizza eating a punishment rather than an enjoyment.

This is precisely the reason we (spouse and I) hopped on five-star restaurant to another.. in search of the perfect pizza, really really thin crust, with gourmet cheese/toppings...

Of course, we did come across some good ones price around Rs 350-500 for a standard 12-incher.. thin-thin crust ():

- Oberoi Hilton Nariman Pt
- Taj Lands End Bandra
- Hyatt Vakola
- JW Marriott Juhu

non 5-star
- Don Giovanni Juhu
- I-forgot-the-name-of-restaurant in the Pantaloons shopping complex in Lower Parel
- Penne Juhu (yes.. their pizza is indeed good !)

Recently,

- Dominos (try their thin crust pizza)- I have become their latest fan
- Garcia's (try their whole-grain healthy thin crust.. its amazing)

But pls pls AVOID the following places for PIZZA. Once bitten, forever shy !! They made me think if these guys knew anything about pizza at all !!

- Le Meridian Sahar
- Trattoria (yes..Unpleasant surprise..I was shocked beyond belief !)
- Leela Sahar
- Hyatt Sahar
- ITC Sheraton Sahar
- ITC Sheraton Parel
- Intercontinental Sahar

non 5-star

- smokin joes (god !! they do not understand the concept of thin crust.. hope they do sooner.. for their toppings are pretty good.)

- the various udipi eat-outs in mumbai (their standard 5 inch 'pizza' or 'pijja' is about piling up some grated cheese, capsicum, onions over a readymade 1-inch thick disc of maida)

If anyone has come across really good thin crust pizza-s other than the above, pls let me know. Happy navratri.

Yo Place. Yo Food. Yo Returns

Summary: simply superb. Great Dininig. Affordable pricing
Description:

I am Bobby Sarna the Franchisee of two Yo China outlets at Rajouri Garden, Delhi and one at Shipra Mall, Ghaziabad.
I am disturbed by the fact that some vested interest is writing all malicious and false stories on the Franchisee Module and the Brand.

let me inform one and all that we as thr Franchisee of Yo china are very happy and satisfied with the brand Yo China. We have witnessed a 30 % growth in Same Store Sale. A feat not achieved in any F&B outlets or brands. Even the international brands do not come close to this percentage. The model is profitable.

In fact we are contemplating on entering into the third franchisee agreement with Moods Hospitality P Ltd. the parent company of Yo China.

There is a great deal of support from Moods Hospitality P Ltd, and we enjoy a very meaningful association with them.

Our customers swear by the consistent good quality and reasonably priced dishes.

For any queries i may be contacted at: yochinashipra@gmail.com

Cafe Masala

| | | | | |
Summary: Yet another Multi Cuisine Restaurant
Description:

This is part of the chain of restaurants by BJN Group (Samarkhand, Hypnos, Sahib Sind Sultan etc).

First the ambience

- The lighting is too bright for my taste
- Music is too loud
- Too many staff hovering around. On top it they have open kitchens.. so the staff inside the kitchen add to the crowd.
- Staff has a very funny green colored uniform

Now coming to food

- I had a cocktail made out of Vodka. I hate white sugar in cocktails. The best is cane sugar.
- Ordered Jalapeno bites... too hard & the Jalapeno tasted like Capsicum.
- I ordered Pasta in tomato sauce. Too much Garlic & on the salty side. These days i am very low on salt and prefer to get the natural taste of the food. Pizza hut's Pasta tastes better.
- Wife ordered Pudina roti (Where was the Pudina???) and Veg Jalfreizi. Strictly Ok.

Overall was disappointed as i had started having high expectations of any BJN group venture as their restaurants are always of high quality when it comes to food. I gave the feedback & the manager was sincere in telling me that they are looking for feedbacks to improve. They are new.. so my sincere hope is that they improve.

Till then i would advocate this place only if you have a crowd with mixed preferences to eat. If you are focussed on a particular type of cuisine then there are speciality & better options out there in the city.

cheers
Anand

Summary: Great Food & Great Ambience! Definitely a Must Visit!
Description:

Another restaurant from the BJN Group..Lives up to the mark. Setting, interior decor is awesome, on the lines of Aromas of China and service pretty attentive.
Situated at Vile Parle west right above McDonands on the 1st and 2nd floor.
Have been there around thrice between the last couple of months and am glad to say that 3 out of 4 times the experience was great..
Only the afternoon buffet was not impressive on a saturday - the starters were cold and the food average & quite greasy...Also, I had taken some business associates for the lunch buffet - but the restaurant was filled with the kitty party crowd in the afternoon - too noisy and crowded...
Othewise the a-la-carte menu is awesome - not too many varieties in starters for non-veg. but great food..
One of the mutton items Lawrence road ke tikke or something like that awesome! So was the the chilly roti - (mildly spicy)...
The chicken tikkas & kebabs were good too (a trifle too oily though).
The biryani is great and the desserts quite good too..
Pricing - not too steep - and portions are generous -- They serve alcohol too. A meal for 8 of us with 1 drink each set us back by around Rs. 4500/-
All in all a great experience. Be fore-warned, they do not take reservations and people literally are queueing outside the door for a table..
Strategically, as there are no great restaurants in Vile Parle West and we have a richie -rich Gujrati community there - the most difficult part is getting a table there!
Cheers,
Ajai Bathija

Kobe Sizzlers

| | | |
Summary: Sizzling Sizzlers, Desserts & Service!
Description:

Of all the Kobe chain of sizzler restaurants, the Andheri west branch is my favourite...
Start with the chicken or veg. cocktail and move on to either sizzlers or the great sandwiches, burgers/pizza..
A word of warning - the pizza's are not the mozarella cheese ones but the ones you get at the south indian restaurants (oddly, i prefer these to the Italian ones!).
The ice-tea is great too. End your meal with sizzling brownie with ice-cream & hot choc sauce served on a sizzler platter...
Pricing is average. Meal portions - generous. Service - Great.
And the best part, no huge queue and wait time for tables like Yoko Sizzlers!

Corner House

| | | | |
Summary: Great Ice-creams
Description:

I'm surprised that there is no mention of Corner-house ice-cream shop till now. This is one of the older places (of late they've opened in other places too) and legendary among Bangaloreans. Though not exactly a road-side, it is a bit cramped and gets annoyingly crowded during weekends. This is an exclusive ice-cream shop and they serve mind-blowing variety of ice-creams. The menu is quite inviting and they can serve customized ice-cream too. Pick any flavor/combination, it is bound to be good. A must visit place.

Bembos

| | | |
Summary: "La mejor hamburguesa y más" (The best burger and more)
Description:

This is a new burger chain, originally from Peru, that's a few months old. They serve the best burgers I have ever had , period. Costs are reasonable (40 and 50 for regular and large veg. burgers, and 60 and 80 for regular and large non-veg. burgers). Every ingredient from the meat to the bread seems a million times fresher than the junk you get at McDonald's.

Must-haves include the Hariyali Desi Rajma Burgers (for veggies) and the grilled chicken breast, hariyali mutton for non-vegetarians.

And to top it all off, here is a snippet of conversation I had with a friend (call him Jules) who has not been to Bembos yet -
Me : You know what you can put on french fries in Bembos instead of ketchup?
Jules: What?
Me: Mayonnaise.
Jules: God damn!
Me: I seen 'em do it, man, they f**** drown 'em in that shit.

Yo! China

| | | |
Summary: Affordable Chinese
Description:

We've been here at least 20 times and have rarely been disappointed with the experience. The place is clean, service is good, music contemporary and (most importantly) the food is good.

Don't go for noodles or the chowmin stuff. Just stick to the regular Chinese dishes and have them with steamed rice (which is complimentary). Mongolian Chicken, Diced Chicken, Chicken Hot Garlic are all quite good. In Vegetarian, try the Veg with Hot Garlic Sauce.

And yes, do *not* miss the "Lychee Sling" mocktail. Its simply amazing. You wish it had a dash of vodka... but hey...
