Ambika Lunch Home

Summary: Good food in quarter bar outside Vikhroli(W)
Description:

Ambika Lunch Home is another cheap quarter bar in Vikhroli station (W) right opposite the ticket window. We landed up there for a quick drink before planned food at Priya. However, one drink became two and so on, so we decided to try out the food there. We didn't regret it.

Oh yeah - there is no chakna (complimentary snacks served with the liquor - even the menu says so) - so you have to buy every item. That said, the prices of quarters and beer is one of the cheapest I have seen. The usual snacks are cheap at 7 each. There is a el-cheapo seating area in the front, an a/c section behind, and another a/c section on the first floor.

We had Mutton Sukka as a starter along with loads of Chana daal. We followed this up by a Pomfret fry thali, Chicken masala, and Bheja fry with chapatis. The Pomfret fry was unexpectedly very good. It had a great crust. The rest of the stuff was good too. The Malvani items in general are said to be very good, and they have lots of the Indian-Chinese things which we didn't try.

Summary: Nice seafood joint outside Vikhroli station
Description:

A small gem tucked away in Vikhroli out of the city's attention. The locals know and adore it.

Very good konkani seafood with a great selection of thalis. All in the 40-70 range.
